Letter asking for reconsideration of biosolids application allegedly causing chronic respiratory disease.

Dr. Mark Asperill, Port Charlotte, FL, July 4, 2002 (click here)
"Dr. Mark Asperilla, a Port Charlotte infectious disease specialist who treats patients in DeSoto County, said linking rotavirus, shigellosis and similar diseases to sludge requires extra work for doctors, such as testing stool samples and visiting patients' homes to check for sludge. Even without the testing, Asperilla is worried there are "lots" of people in DeSoto getting sick from sludge. "There's so many people that get sick down there, and the only thing that you can correlate it with is sludge," he said.

  Dr. Edward I. Gordon:
"Dr. Edward I. Gordon has treated several people who claim biosolids
aggravated their illnesses or caused their sickness, said he has seen a
correlation between the spread of treated sludge in a neighborhood and health complaints." Dr. Gordon goes on to say "...they haven't proven they're not a problem."
